1. Introduction

PeddalDrop ("we", "us", or "our") is a Udyam-registered, cycle-only, low-emission last-mile delivery service operating in Pune, Maharashtra. We are registered as a sole proprietorship under Rashmi Bapat. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal data when you use our platform, website (www.PeddalDrop.com), mobile application, or related services (collectively, the "Platform").

Regulatory Compliance

This Policy is prepared in compliance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 ("IT Act"), the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 ("SPDI Rules"), and applicable provisions of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act").


2. Data We Collect

2.1 Customer Data

  • Account Details: Name, mobile number, and email address for registration and order placement.
  • Logistics Data: Delivery address and location coordinates.
  • History & Preferences: Order history and delivery preferences.
  • Payments: Payment transaction metadata (reference numbers, timestamps, status).
  • Device info: Device identifiers and application usage data.

2.2 Merchant Partner Data

  • Business details: Business name, GSTIN, proprietor/authorised contact details.
  • Preferences: Pickup address and operational zone preferences.
  • Records: Volume data, invoice references, and service usage records.

2.3 PeddalRider Data

  • Identity: Identification details and contact information.
  • Transactions: Payment and payout information.
  • Logistics: Real-time location data used during active delivery assignments.

2.4 Sensitive Personal Data (SPDI)

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data as defined under the SPDI Rules (e.g., passwords, financial account details, biometric data) except as strictly necessary for payment processing. PeddalDrop does not store card numbers, UPI credentials, or net banking passwords. All payment transactions are processed via our authorised payment gateway partner, and such data is governed by their PCI-DSS-compliant infrastructure.


3. How We Use Your Data

  • To process delivery orders and communicate order status.
  • To enable seamless pickups and last-mile delivery by PeddalRiders.
  • To generate Green Delivery Certificates and carbon emission reports.
  • To process payments and maintain financial records as required by law.
  • To improve our Platform, services, and rider allocation algorithms.
  • To send service notifications, updates, and promotional communications (with opt-out options).
  • To comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.

4. Delivery Location Data — Retention Policy

To guarantee transparency and protect privacy, we apply a tiered retention approach to delivery location data generated during active delivery assignments (including pickup coordinates, route data, and drop-off points):

Phase 01

Live Database

5 Days

Retained for operational tracking, support, and immediate dispute resolution.

Phase 02

Archival Storage

90 Days

Moved from live databases to secure, restricted-access archival storage.

Phase 03

Permanent Deletion

Irreversible

Permanently and irreversibly deleted from all PeddalDrop backup and storage servers.


5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may share data with:

  • PeddalRiders: Limited strictly to the information necessary to execute your delivery (name, contact, delivery address).
  • Payment Gateway Partners: For secure payment processing only.
  • Technology Service Providers: For hosting, analytics, and platform maintenance under data processing agreements.
  • Regulatory and Government Authorities: Where required by law, court order, or government directive.

All third-party service providers are contractually required to maintain confidentiality and use your data solely for the purpose for which it was disclosed.


6. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Our website and application may use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to improve user experience and measure platform performance. You may disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features of the Platform may not function optimally without them.


7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include:

  • Encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS).
  • Role-based database access controls.
  • Regular security vulnerability assessments.

Please Note: While we enforce rigorous safety audits, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.


8. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy or as required by applicable law. Delivery location data is subject to the specific retention schedule set out in Section 4 above. Other data categories are retained in accordance with our internal data lifecycle policy and applicable statutory periods.


9. Your Rights

Subject to applicable Indian laws, you have the right to:

11. Third-Party Links

Our Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of such third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any personal information.


12. Grievance Officer

In accordance with Rule 5(9) of the SPDI Rules and applicable provisions of the IT Act, we have designated a Grievance Officer to address privacy-related concerns:

13. Changes to this Policy
